"I don’t normally do this Posted by b_wright on 02/28/2005
I don’t normally post recommendations on websites for anything but,
Tangerine is an exception. I first tried Tangerine several months ago.
My experience was nothing short of fantastic. The delicious food,
the prompt and courteous service, the warm ambiance, even the music was
much more than I expected. Still, I hesitated recommending Tangerine to
friends on the off chance I had been there on an exceptional night.
Since that time I have eaten both dinner and their spectacular brunch
a number of times. Each time is a new and wonderful experience.
Tangerine has proven itself to me time and again. So it is time I spread the word.
If you love Pacific Rim cuisine, great service in a beautiful setting at very
attractive prices you owe it to yourself to visit one of my favorite restaurants, Tangerine." more reviews>> |

The reviewers say:
The latest stylish eatery to occupy this revoling-door corner
in castro area whips up an imaginative menu of Pacific Rim Californian fare,
from inexpensive lunch wraps ($6.50) to fancier dinner options such as sea bass
with edamame ($15);the new management is continuing the locale's popular
weekend brunch tradition. |

"Tangerine offers the ambiance and sophisticated presentation of
dishes of other classy restaurants, but distinguishes itself with its
generous portions.
We’ve likely all been to fancy restaurants that leave your wallet
empty, yet skimp on portion size. At Tangerine, you will enjoy
the atmosphere of casual elegance and leave feeling honest-to-goodness
full."....more>>

SF SURVEY
Tangerine is a unique dining experience that you can afford to go back to.
A beautiful meal and a great value.
The service was very friendly and made
very good suggestions. I started out with the Tangerine Yam Cakes with
Parmesan cheese and a pesto sauce. It was a perfect balance of sweet and savory.
For my entrée I had the Salmon with Mango Salad, large salmon steak covered
with a lovely mango salsa type “salad” and 6-8 veggie rolls on the side.
The presentation was flawless, usually when you have an artful presentation
the portion size suffers; this is NOT the case at Tangerine…you will leave
full and satisfied. The Cuisine is described as Pacific Rim; I call it creative
and delishes. Next time I want to try their brunch. |

URBAN TRAVEL BOOKLET
Off the busy main drag of Market Street, you can step into
neighborhood eatery that lives up
to its name - and you'll know it when you enter. There's a huge
basket of tangerines at the front
of the bar and the back brick wall is painted a happy orange.
The orange colors, coupled with the large palms and the classic
white, evoke exotic visions of Asia.
The food is vibrant too;
salman with mango salad, tangerine Thai shrimp and rosemary
chicken kabob are just a few of the
fusion-style dishes available. Try the special sake cocktail,
the Tangerita. |
